Wow, looks easier than installation of xp from a usb flash drive, but only one question, An eee pc, completly unmodified (4gb version, 512mb ram, i have 1gb ram, can i still install vista????

This is great help, but how do we move the users folder as well? I have done some searching and can not find a good answer.

Also I would suggest everyone move the temp folder to a ram disk ;)

If you try this method and move your c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder to your SD/SDHC card, you will not be able to use Windows Update. You will get an error. The reason, from my googling, is that Winodws update does not like the winsxs and softwaredistribution folder to be on another partition/drive, even if you created a symlink/junction.

If you don't care about Windows Update, and you use the mklink /J option, you will get errors with .NET when installing common apps such as Adobe Acrobat or Office 2007. Something about error 1935. That is because of the /J option. You need to use mklink /S (symbolic link).

I installed Vista a lot more easy!
What I did was to cut down Vista with vLite and then just installed it on my Eee with USB DVD drive it took 3.3GB of the SSD drive and it is running perfectly!
