Overclock your EEE SetFSB Guide or BIOS update

The Eee appears to be underclocked to 630mhz, this can be corrected by updating your BIOS to version 8804 but is not advisable unless you're a risk taker. There have been multiple reports of wavy lines on the screen after this update and even some bricked EEEs. Your other options for getting it back up to 900mhz is waiting for a new more stable bios update or using SetFSB. SetFSB appears stable just setting the EEE to 900mhz with no major increase in temp. I would not advise going much higher than 900mhz as it may not be stable and it will generate more heat.

Instructions for overclocking via SetFSB:

1. Download SetFSB

2. Select this FSB: ICS9LPRS906CGLF

3. Click on GET FSB

4. In the first tab, move it to the right until 400/802/266/33 appears in the box SELECT FSB (remember, it can be approx.)

5. Then, click on SET FSB (100mhz FSB gives 900mhz cpu speed)

I tried this on a stock 4G 701 but could not get the 3rd and 4th numbers to change. Boldly going where no man has gone before, I hit "Set FSB" anyway and it froze, boldly ignoring all keyboard or mouse input. So I did a hard reset, and it then wouldn't take the BIOS boot password I had set. Hard reset again, and everything back to normal - clock speed unchanged. Phew! (wipes brow)

Same here, could not change last two numbers, pressed set fsb, eee froze, hard to do hard reset. Maybe someone can post more detailed info with screen shots? Thanks.
